I went to a conference with my youngest daughter this weekend. It was her first conference and she was super excited. The theme of the conference was Daughter of the One True King.
It was super cute, they were even all given crowns because that makes them princesses. This was right up my daughters’ alley.
Ever since my now seven-year-old was two or three she has said that she wants to be a princess doctor when she grows up. She even has a plan. First, she’s going to be a doctor and THEN she’s going to get married and be a princess.
To me, it seems that she has her priorities pretty much in order so I really have no rebuttal for this line of thinking. Hey, nowadays the Royals seem to want to marry commoners so maybe she has a chance??
Anyway in this message that was all about finding our identity in being a daughter of God I had a few takeaways. One of which I wanted to share with you today. They stressed and made sure that every woman and little girl there knew that we are all made in the image of God.
I’ve grown up knowing the Lord so I’ve heard this one thousand and one times. It’s become one of those phrases that I just seem to glaze over. Like ok yeah, humans as a whole are all in Gods image. I’m a human, by reasonable deduction, I’m in God image. When I think of me, though, I think about me being toward the bottom of a very long ancestral tree. Like we all are related back to Noah but I don’t think about mentioning that in my family history. Anyway, I don’t think of my face as being made in the image of God, but the fact is, you, me, and anyone we come in contact with in our day were all made in Gods image.
It’s funny how it seemed that the little girls seemed to take that right in while the Moms were a little more reserved. We are a little more hardened by this harsh word.
It’s funny how we can be nice to beautiful people, celebrities on any platform, and treat them like they are special. In reality, they are no more special than you or me. God loves each of us. As if we are all His favorites.
Time to start remembering this Mama’s, it’s not only those precious babies your raising, it’s your husband, it’s your neighbor, and especially don’t forget that YOU are made in the image of God. You are LOVED!
Then God said, “Let Us make mankind in our image, in Our likeness,
so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky,
over the livestock and all the wild animals,
and over the creatures that move along the ground.”
